About the Program
The GAU Foundation English School aims to ensure that all students in GAU have adequate English for their academic needs. Proficiency in English will assist students not only in their academic work at GAU but also in their chosen professions.
The Foundation English School provides intensive courses in English for all students whose English does not meet faculty requirements.
Students who start studying in the FES will be attending 25 hours of instruction per week including Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and study skills integrated (22 hours), interactive/online teaching and ESP (3 hours). The students are placed into classes depending on their level of English and they usually stay with that class for one term. However, during the ESP lessons each student joins the groups formed for each department or faculty.
The FES Program also offers the students the opportunity to join a club depending on their personal interests. The available clubs and more detailed information can be found under the heading Clubs.
The program in general is designed to help the students learn, practice, and improve their English in class, online, outside the class during club hours and their ESP lessons.
The Foundation English School is involved in the process of acquiring international accreditation for its programs through EAQUALS (European Association of Quality Language Services), the leading quality assessor for language programs in Europe.
